what does fart mean?

Today an anonymous reader pointed out that "fart" has a certain meaning to americans, which I apparantly didn't know...
Quite the contrary!

When I started this blog:
Boyfriend: I don't know if I like that title...
Maret: Why?
Boyfriend: It's too stupid to be funny. "F&art" just sounds indecent, primitive, childish.
Maret: So what? At least it's much more handy than fashion&art. Don't you think?
Boyfriend: Hhm.
Maret: It also expresses my opinion about the topic!
Boyfriend: Hhm?
Maret: It's all just a fart!
Boyfriend: You don't do anything else than f&art!
Maret: So what? I love to fart!
Boyfriend: This conversation is getting stupid!
Maret: You shouldn't be so serious!
