ME MYSELF AND WE

IMG_0466

ESMOD: What is said to be the ritch children's fashionschool truly is - no matter what - one of the most important schools for fashion in Germany (located in Berlin and Munich). Bernadett Penkov, Alexandra Fischer-Röhler and Johanna Kühl (Kaviar Gauche), Meike Vollmar (Macqua) or Christine Pluess and Livia Ximénez-Carillo (mongrels in common) are only a few internationally known graduates to be mentioned. Yesterday Esmod invited press, professionals, friends and family under the title me myself & we to this year's graduate show. 24 selected collections were presented as a "reflexion between egoism and altruism", as said in the pressrelease. The winner of this year's prix createure was Tarané Hoock with a pretty harlequinesque collection consisting of mostly white and light grey partly doll-like short dresses and wide legged pantsuits aka overalls. Not convincing in my opinion - my anticipation may be drawn from my fear of clowns and harlequins dating back to my childhood - but pretty much convincing in the jury's eyes which belonged to fashion masterminds (ähem) like Prof. Clare Johnston (Head of Textiles, Royal College of Art), Andreea Vrajitoru (Adddress), Eric Lebon ♥ and Angelika Blechschmidt (Consultant, Condé Nast). Presidents of the Jury were An Vandevorst and Filip Arickx (A.F. Vandevorst - you know how much I like them!). Whatever...
