Since I simply can't afford buying and reading all the magazines I'd love to I sometimes are kind of slow in discovering interessting magazine stuff to post about. Lucky me I'm a member of the beloved fashion spot community where other magazine addicts like me scan and upload fashion spreads from every thinkable magazine worldwide. So I had a change to see the spread Cindy Sherman did herself for Vogue Paris' August 2007 issue (no wonder then that she showed up in the balenciaga show during paris fashion week three days ago...).

NINAKI

Do we like this? Yes we do! Ninaki rings are huge, heavy, very sculpural and very organic. Although I don't like wearing jewelry that much... ('so this really means something!'). And the longer I watch the slideshow on her iqons* portrait, the more rings I want. Where fashion meets art (don't they remind us of Henry Moore?).

SASHA PIVOVAROVA

Don't we all love Sasha for her laid back but chique style? Well, I actually do and so that's why she's one of my inspirations for my winter wardrobe which will mostly consist out of black and grey.
Do you remeber this cnn film on sasha about her september vogue britain cover? There was lots of her artwork in it ('yes she actually studied art and is always carrying her brown leather map and draws in it whenever there's time - mostly backstage...'). Some lovely memebers of tfs were so kind to make videostills which I post here today. Looks like a lot of selfportraits? Is this telling us something? Actually they aren't that bad at all ♥

Sehr viele Selbstportraits. Hat uns das irgendetwas zu sagen? Schlecht sind sie jedenfalls nicht ♥

fly magazine?

invite

Yesterday night fly magazine officially launched their third issue in paris (party photos might pop up in all the other fashionable blogs during the day..). I got an invitation, but unfortunately wasn't able to make it ('hey, flying to paris for a party, wouldn't that be great? Mybe next time...')

Fly probably is the most interessting fashion magazine, which actually is no magazine, but a DVD, right now. It consits of animated fashion spreads, which means the models actually have to act rather than just standing around to be photographed. If you can't or don't want to afford (like in my case) the EUR 45 this amazing magazine costs the freebies must be enough to satisfy your hunger for new innovative avantgarde fashion publishing:

Balenciaga ::: Am I still alive???

Where art meets art. Balenciaga again causes me to interrupt my fashion week absence. Cindy Sherman and Nicolas Ghesquière posing for the photographs - what is this trying to tell us? Nicolas again gives us a bunch of artworks, sculptural shoes, dresses, that demand a huge amount of selfconfidence from its wearer. Do we love that YES YES YES. That's where fashion starts to really get interessting, where it crosses the line from beeing just clothing and as always I think that noone does it better than Mr. Ghesquière (well maybe Gareth Pugh, but that's London!!!!).
But stop. I HATE THOSE FLOWER PRINTS, I HATE THEM SO MUCH, THEY ARE TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! And still, I love them. Oh what would I give for wearing that flowery carlike dress for just one night it's so amazingly contradictory. And although it reminds us of all these gucci (dolce&gabbana - who the f*** are they) crapp armors we had two seasons ago, we feel that this is simply more... Am I still alive?

afghanistan's next topmodel

When fashion strives political/religious borders. Two days ago we had Vivienne Westwood ♥. Today we have Afghanistan's next topmodel. Do you remember the burqini? Why shouln't all women have what we have?
