ILIKEMYSTYLE LIKES MY STYLE

Kürzlich erreichte mich eine Email von einem Betreiber "I like my style"s, der ultimativen Plattform aller supereitler Fäschnpeople. Es versteht sich von selbst, dass auch ich dort ein (allerdings nur dürftig gepflegtes...) Profil habe. Juhu mein Fahrradbild gehört noch immer zu den am meisten betrachteten und erinnert mich mal wieder daran, wie sehr ich mein Fahrrad vermisse (kann man ein Fahrrad so richtig vermissen? Wohl schon und erstrecht bei DEM Berliner Frühling)...

Jeder, der mich auch nur ein wenig kennt, weiß, dass ich irgendwie ein verkappter Junge bin. Ich stehe auf schöne Autos, Playstation, Technikkram , Bier, lange Beine, hohe Schuhe und kurze Röcke (letzteres hauptsächlich an mir selbst). Da ist es umso weniger verwunderlich, dass ich Freund des portugiesischen Designers Felipe Oliveira Baptista bin, der es irgendwie schafft, das alles in seinen Kollektionen zu vereinen und es gleichzeitig hinbekommt das auch noch gut aussehen zu lassen. Seine Spring/Sommer Bekleidungsvorschläge, über welche ich an anderer Stelle schon einmal berichtete, ist Wrestling (oder auch Catching) inspiriert. Und das - ist das etwas, auf das man stolz sein kann? Oh je! - war meine erste Assoziation als ich die Sachen zum ersten mal sah. Kommenden Winter ist es ein wenig verzwickter. Da geht es nämlich um Autos, genauer gesagt um Lamborghini, noch genauer gesagt um die Flügeltüren, die es Felipe besonders angetan zu haben scheinen. Diesen - meiner Meinung nach ja etwas peinlichen - Schnickschnack verarbeitet er - verbunden mit dem für diese Erfindung natürlichen Ursprung von Schmetterlingsflügeln - wie ich finde aber durchaus ansprechend zu Schulterklappen, Applikationen usw.

Sehr gefreut habe ich mich dann natürlich, als ich letztes Wochenende in Hyères die Gelegenheit hatte, Felipe persönlich kennenzulernen und mit ihm über seine speziell für dort realisierte Ausstellung zu sprechen. Zwei Räume im Erdgeschoss der Villa Noilles bespielte er mit Entwürfen, die irgendwo zwischen Kleid und Skulptur anzusiedeln sind. Etwas ähnliches war bis vor kurzem im Mudam in Luxemburg zu sehen. Die grundsätzliche Idee dahinter ist es, ein Kleidungsstück zu schaffen, dass die Konturen des Körpers nachempfindet und nicht erst durch diese geformt wird - "Women should be able to rest in their clothes"- was wirklich SEHR angenehm klingt.

und diese Tatsache wird unterschiedlichst wahrgenommen. In erster Linie wohl negativ. Ach Mädels lasst das arme Model doch singen. Ich finde es gar nicht so übel, lehne mich zurück, verschränke die Arme hinter dem Kopf und schau weiter den Flugzeugkondensstreifen am Himmel beim sich auflösen zu (Wolken sind nämlich keine da!).

HYÈRES | MATTHEW CUNNINGTON

Happy to see that my favourite designer had won. As if I had known it before I made the effort to tape parts of the show for you to get an idea (well sorry my camera isn't that good) of this oh so perfect collection "Hail Mary". It definitely isn't a coincidence that the University of Westminster graduate was awarded by a jury which Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy was president of. I can pretty well imagine seeing Mr Cunnington somewhere in the orbit of the French fashionhouse soon.








"Hail Mary" was inspired by the life of the designers own mother who in 1969, due to social pressure, was forced to abandon her illegitimate daughter, meeting again only thirty years later. This collection, defined by the memory of this reconciliation, can be understood in a more symbolic than narrative fashion. A tightly worn draped dress ‘contains the emotion on the inside’. A cloth burnt with acid evokes the ‘fragility of this poignant story’. An exposed pocket on a coat signifies that ‘there is nothing left to hide’. The shoulders are accentuated in order to depict the anxiety and guilt carried for so long. Insignificant details suddenly gain a disproportionate importance, such as the large buttons sewn on the front of the dress. Delicate and intimate, this collection invites us to delve into the recollections and emotions of a woman. pressrelease

HYÈRES | JEAN-PAUL LESPAGNARD

"Ich will nen Cowboy als Mann" is the name of the collection the Belgian designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard presented at Hyères. This means "I want a cowboy as a husband" and is a song title by Gitte from 1963. The collection itself was a clash between cowboy romanticism and belgian french fries aesthetics. In Germany we would say "Pommes Schranke" which literally means "French Fries à la gate" in reference to the red/white stripes. Anyway. Jean-Paul seams to be a very nice guy and I LOVED THE HEELS (guess you already knew that).

When I asked Garance how the unofficial dresscode is going to be like before I left for Hyères she said Be extreeeeemely cool with one or two fashion details and you will be perfect. It's quite young fashion there, not at all like the fashion weeks. More independant, you see? I guess the lady knows what she is talking about...
